Following the time of Your Life

We’ve compiled this wedding checklist to help guide and support your efforts so that you can spend more time enjoying and less time trying to remember all the fine details. We will lend a helping hand at each stage so that you can focus on the things most important to you.

Sixteen to Nine Months Before

  • Start a wedding folder with photos, inspiration shots, and ideas
  • Set the budget
  • Select your wedding party
  • Begin the guest list. Be sure to discuss what size of wedding you, as the couple, want
  • Tour the resort
  • Reserve your date and desired rooms based on your headcount. Keep in mind the rehearsal dinner, and, if having, the
  • engagement party, stag, and doe, and after wedding brunch
  • Book the officiant
  • Meet with the wedding organizers to get their feedback on suppliers
  • Research photographers, DJs/bands, florists, hair and makeup, wedding cake
  • Have an engagement party

Eight Months Before

  • Book the photographer/ videographer and entertainment
  • Go dress shopping. You’ll need about three fittings, and this time frame allows for those. You can wait for the veil for another two months
  • Reserve resort rooms for your guests
  • Create a wedding registry at two retailers
  • Develop a wedding website via a provider. This helps communicate all the important and
    fun details to your guests

Seven to Six Months Before

  • Buy invitations
  • Start planning a honeymoon. Is your passport up-to-date? Do you need any shots?
  • Go shopping for bridesmaids’ dresses. You’ll need about six months for them to be ordered and altered
  • Meet with the officiant
  • Send save-the-date cards, including the Ramada Jackson’s Point website address so that guests can arrange their accommodations
  • Book a florist

Five to Four Months Before

  • Order the cake (enjoy your research!)
  • Buy your wedding shoes and bring them to your first dress fitting
  • Book hair and makeup
  • Choose your music for specific moments throughout the evening, and make a list of songs that you do and do not want played
  • Meet with the wedding coordinators to review your special day
  • Prepare a slide show and music

Three Months Before

  • Confirm the menu and flowers
  • Order wedding favours and welcome baskets, if offering
  • Confirm the list of people doings readings or speeches
  • Develop a detailed schedule of the day and add in times for each event, from cutting the cake to tossing the bouquet. Share it with wedding coordinators and vendors for revisions and feedback
  • Print programs and menus, if using
  • Buy the rings and take care of any resizing and engraving
  • Time for the second dress fitting

Two Months Before

  • Celebrate with a bachelorette, bachelor and/or stag and doe party. We have spa parties, golf parties and more, all at our spa resort
  • Connect again with all vendors
  • Meet with the photographer to discuss the specific shots you are interested in
  • Review the playlist with the band or DJ
  • Mail your invitations. Generally send invitations six to eight weeks before the ceremony with an RSVP deadline three weeks after the date you sent them

One Month Before

  • Keep track of RSVPs and dietary needs. Touch base with people who have not yet responded
  • Obtain the marriage license and get some copies
  • Mail the rehearsal-dinner invitations
  • Attend your last dress fitting
  • Make final payments for vendors and confirm times
  • Make the seating chart
  • Purchase attendants’ gifts to give out at the rehearsal dinner (consider gifting your bridesmaids a manicure or pedicure at the Glo Spa)
  • If writing you own vows, get started!
  • Consider booking a relaxing couples massage at Glo Spa the day before the wedding
  • Book a spa pedicure and manicure for the day before the wedding

Two Weeks Before

  • Assemble the welcome baskets or purchase guest gifts and liaise with the resort to have them left in your guests’ rooms
  • Send your final headcount, seating plan, vendor list, and schedule of the day to the wedding coordinator
  • Provide your MC with the schedule of speeches and toasts as well as the schedule of the event. Include people to thank

Assign wedding-day responsibilities to attendants, family, and friends, including:

  • Someone to bustle dress and keep track of your things
  • A person in charge of gifts
  • An attendant to hand out the tips
  • Point person for each vendor
  • Placing decorations and centrepieces
  • Place cards and seating chart
  • Slideshow and music
  • Guestbook
  • Returning any rentals the next day

Week of the Wedding

  • Send the schedule of the day to the bridal party and include contact information for everyone
  • Pick up your dress or have it delivered
  • Check in one last time with the photographer
  • Set aside envelopes with tips for the vendors
  • Pack for your honeymoon

Day of Arrival

  • Check-in time early
  • Meet with wedding coordinator to review the details of your day
  • Confirm if you are changing rooms on your wedding day
  • Confirm spa treatments
  • Test equipment for slideshow and music
